SHOWER RENOVATION

A shower renovation includes anything within the shower area including the screen. By renovating the shower area it provides a completely refreshed area that will prevent any further water damage.

This is usually chosen as a budget friendly option for those not ready to undertake a full bathroom renovation.

Please keep in mind the option to do this depends on the circumstances and severity of the damage.

BATHROOM RENOVATION

As Total Seal completes all our work in house we are able to guarantee the quality of our work from start to finish. A full renovation is a great way to modernise and give your bathroom a complete makeover.

Due to the severity of the damage in a bathroom this is sometimes the only option we are able to provide, however some clients do prefer to choose a complete bathroom renovation to freshen up the whole room.

  • What paperwork do you provide for the waterproofing?
On completion Total Seal provides a 'Form 43' which states that we, a licensed contractor completed the work, an 'Application Form' this describes the materials and application methods as well as the'Compatibility Chart' to ensure the correct materials are used by other contractors on the waterproofing membrane.
  • What happens after I request a quote for waterproofing?
After Total Seal receives your request our team will contact you with further questions and organise a time to meet and discuss your waterproofing project.
  • What does the waterproofing warranty cover?
Our installation warranty solely covers Total Seal's installation of the product. If any external contractor damages the waterproofing membrane this will void all warranties and guaranties made at time of installation.
  • Does my tiled patio / deck need to be waterproofed?
Tiled patios do require waterproofing as it prevents water from ingressing into the structural frame work and potentially leaking into the floor area below.
  • Does my retaining wall need waterproofing?
Waterproofing retaining walls is crucial. If not done efflorescence will weep through the wall causing issues with any finished surfaces, such as paint and render. To further ensure the walls structural integrity a gravel drainage trench should be used to assist in diverting water.
  • Should I waterproof the external walls of my building?
Anything that is below natural ground level should require external waterproofing and a gravel drainage trench to help prevent and divert water from the foundations of the house.
  • How do i fix moisture coming up through my concrete floor?
This is due to the vapour barrier installed incorrectly or not at all. To fix this an waterproofing injection system is used to stop water penetrating through the slab, damaging finished surfaces such as carpet and timber flooring.
  • What do i do if dampness is coming through my block wall?
There are 2 waterproofing methods Total Seal looks to, depending on the soil level on the effected wall. We can either excavate and re apply an external membrane or drill from the inside and inject a waterproofing system.
  • How do i fix my leaking shower?
After the area has been assessed our experts will recommend whether we can use our clear waterproofing compound, re-grout and reseal or if it is more severe, we will have to look at renovating the effected area.
  • What happens if i don't waterproof?
Waterproofing your home ensures the structure is secure. A lack of waterproofing can cause water to penetrate into either floor or wall substrates, causing structural damage and the potential to habitate mould and mildew.
  • How many coats of waterproofing is needed?
The water based membranes we use at Total Seal require a minimum 1mm dry film thickness (DFT), to achieve this 3 coats are required.
  • How long will the waterproofing take to do?
The waterproofing process is different for each type. Internal and external will usually take between 3 - 5 days, remedial is very unique and depends on the specific project. Each process can vary due to temperature, humidity and ventilation.

  • How long do you need to leave waterproofing before tiling?
As we use a water based membrane, we recommend a minimum of 24 hours before tiling can begin. This ensures the membrane has fully cured.
  • Do you do tiling?
Yes, Total Seal provides all in house services except for plumbing and electrical. By doing this we are able to stand by our quality of work from start to finish.
  • Should I do a shower renovation or full bathroom renovation?
