What paperwork do you provide for the waterproofing?On completion Total Seal provides a 'Form 43' which states that we, a licensed contractor completed the work, an 'Application Form' this describes the materials and application methods as well as the'Compatibility Chart' to ensure the correct materials are used by other contractors on the waterproofing membrane.

What happens after I request a quote for waterproofing?After Total Seal receives your request our team will contact you with further questions and organise a time to meet and discuss your waterproofing project.

What does the waterproofing warranty cover?Our installation warranty solely covers Total Seal's installation of the product. If any external contractor damages the waterproofing membrane this will void all warranties and guaranties made at time of installation.

Does my tiled patio / deck need to be waterproofed?Tiled patios do require waterproofing as it prevents water from ingressing into the structural frame work and potentially leaking into the floor area below.

Does my retaining wall need waterproofing?Waterproofing retaining walls is crucial. If not done efflorescence will weep through the wall causing issues with any finished surfaces, such as paint and render. To further ensure the walls structural integrity a gravel drainage trench should be used to assist in diverting water.

Should I waterproof the external walls of my building?Anything that is below natural ground level should require external waterproofing and a gravel drainage trench to help prevent and divert water from the foundations of the house.

How do i fix moisture coming up through my concrete floor?This is due to the vapour barrier installed incorrectly or not at all. To fix this an waterproofing injection system is used to stop water penetrating through the slab, damaging finished surfaces such as carpet and timber flooring.

What do i do if dampness is coming through my block wall?There are 2 waterproofing methods Total Seal looks to, depending on the soil level on the effected wall. We can either excavate and re apply an external membrane or drill from the inside and inject a waterproofing system.

How do i fix my leaking shower?After the area has been assessed our experts will recommend whether we can use our clear waterproofing compound, re-grout and reseal or if it is more severe, we will have to look at renovating the effected area.

What happens if i don't waterproof?Waterproofing your home ensures the structure is secure. A lack of waterproofing can cause water to penetrate into either floor or wall substrates, causing structural damage and the potential to habitate mould and mildew.

How many coats of waterproofing is needed?The water based membranes we use at Total Seal require a minimum 1mm dry film thickness (DFT), to achieve this 3 coats are required.

How long will the waterproofing take to do?The waterproofing process is different for each type. Internal and external will usually take between 3 - 5 days, remedial is very unique and depends on the specific project. Each process can vary due to temperature, humidity and ventilation.

Are you licensed waterproofing contractors?At Total Seal we are fully licensed, trained and insured. In QLD it is required to be licensed with the QBCC. We are also members of Master Builders QLD.

What are the common signs of water damage?Common signs of water damage include damp or musty odours, mould or mildew growth, peeling or bubbling paint, stains or discolouration on walls or ceilings, warping or buckling of wooden surfaces, and water pooling or dripping.

Do you have to be a licensed waterproofing installer?Yes, in Qld it is mandatory to be trained and licensed with QBCC. This ensures quality control and issuing of the relevant forms for your certifier and personal records. At Total Seal we are fully trained and licensed.

How long does waterproofing last?The 'Sika' products we use at Total Seal nominally carry a 7 year material warranty, however with the correct application method the product should last much longer given the right circumstances.

What areas of my bathroom need to be waterproofed?Shower floors must be completely waterproofed and shower walls must be waterproofed up to a minimum height of 1,800 mm. For bathrooms the floor must be coated and the walls must be waterproofed up to a height of 100 mm as well as every penetration.

Does my power / toilet room need to be waterproofed?Toilet areas must be waterproofed to the same requirements as a bathroom. The entire floor has to be coated and the walls must be waterproofed up to a height of 100 mm as well as every penetration.

How long do you need to leave waterproofing before tiling?As we use a water based membrane, we recommend a minimum of 24 hours before tiling can begin. This ensures the membrane has fully cured.
